Award Season Round-Up // 5 //

Welcome to Award Season Round-Up 2016. Award season is upon us and I will be covering the events, weekly, in the run up to the Oscars at the end of February. Tune in every Sunday at 1pm to see the what the week has to offer. This week was a quiet week with only one event. I have rounded looks from that event.
Taraji P. Henson accepted Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series at the 47th NAACP Image Awards yesterday evening. The Empire actress donned a Balmain long sleeve gown with a plunging neckline and embellishment on the waist. The wrap dress was unfortunately mediocre but Taraji did look lovely.

Kerry Washington, star of Scandal, was also present at the awards in Pasadena. She opted for a white Victoria Beckham gown with a low neckline and embellished belt. The black lapels added another dimension of beauty to the dress. Kerry always takes a risk on the red carpet, so this is an understated look for her.

Viola Davis was another beautiful actress present at the 47th NAACP Image Awards in Pasadena yesterday evening. The How to Get Away with Murder actress looked brilliant, naturally, in her custom made St John gown with delicate sequin embroidery. This woman never fails to impress me.

Orange is the New Black actress Laverne Cox brought her eternal glamour to the 47th NAACP Image Awards. Oozing resplendence on the red carpet in a custom Marc Bouwer, one-shouldered gown in a subtle peach hue. This is sublime. Whenever she is on the red carpet, she lights it up like no other.

On hand to support her husband Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith took to the red carpet at the awards. She chose a teal Marchesa gown with flowing tulle. Slicked back hair finished the look. Boring Marchesa looks like this don’t bear the same magic as the intricately embellished, richly embroidered gowns as seen on the runway in recent times.
