Award Season Round-Up // 4 //

Welcome to Award Season Round-Up 2016. Award season is upon us and I will be covering the events, weekly, in the run up to the Oscars at the end of February. Tune in every Sunday at 1pm to see the what the week has to offer.
Brie Larson collected another award at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards yesterday. The actress didn’t, however, pick up best dressed. Her custom Atelier Versace gown with a thigh high split and a keyhole cutout doesn’t suit her style, and the dress is quite horrible.

Saoirse Ronan wowed yet again, this time at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The Irish actress, and Brooklyn nominee, donned a Michael Kors Collection pale pink gown with intricate detailing. It may not be the most exciting look but there’s no denying she looks magnificent.

Julianne Moore was on presenting duties at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards yesterday afternoon. Last year’s winner wore a fresh-off-the-runway Spring 2016 Givenchy Haute Couture halter gown with cutouts and rich embellishment. Green may be a superstitious colour in couture, but Julianne has defied that: she looks brilliant here.

Viola Davis was presented with the Best Actress award for a Television Series - Drama for her role in How to Get Away with Murder, at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Also winning best dressed of the evening, her lavender Zac Posen gown was just off-the-shoulder and featured a fishtail skirt and a V-neck. This is magnificent.

Uzo Aduba once again picked up the Best Actress award for a Television Series - Comedy for her portrayal as ‘Crazy Eyes’ in Orange is the New Black. For the momentous occasion she donned an emerald green Zac Posen gown with a pleated skirt. Another actress on the overcrowded red carpet who stood out.
Julianna Marguiles was also present at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards yesterday evening. She looked stunning in her crisp white Antonio Berardi gown with rich gold embellishment. Berardi’s on an award season streak, creating yet another design that looks amazing.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke attended the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, where her show picked up Ensemble Stunt Cast. The face of Christian Dior, unsurprisingly wore a haute couture creation from the French label. Her shocking pink gown featured a plunging neckline. This dress looks familiar.

Alicia Vikander once again accepted Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Danish Girl. Obligated to wear a design from Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière whizzed up a gorgeous number. Her custom made dress with side splits featured black, gold, silver and white sequin panels. Another great red carpet moment for Alicia.

January Jones also went the couture route for the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. She donned a custom Schiaparelli gown, in layers of diaphanous blue chiffon. The dress has certainly grown on me but at first I wasn’t enamoured. It appears quite bulky on January’s frame.

Laverne Cox once again took my breath away at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The Orange is the New Black actress was victorious on the night, picking up Best Ensemble Cast - Comedy. She chose a custom made Prabal Gurung, draped chiffon gown with a thigh high split. She has yet to fail me. She constantly brings the glamour.
Sarah Silverman was nominated for an award yesterday evening. The I Smile Back actress delivered glamour in her Vivienne Westwood Couture gown with an architecturally sculptured bodice and skirt. As fantastic as she looks, we’ve seen a variation of this look many a time.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Ellie Kemper was also present. Enlivening the red carpet, the nominee opted for a custom made Peter Pilotto gown. Her strapless number featured a skirt with olive and blue printing. “It feels cool and fresh,” Ellie said on the red carpet. That it does.

Rooney Mara once again disappointed at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The Carol nominee chose a Valentino Haute Couture gown with a deep plunging neckline. Undeniably, she looks lovely but she is in dire need of some colour.

Rooney’s sister, Kate Mara, was on hand to support her yesterday evening. The short-haired beauty was also dressed in Valentino Haute Couture. Trumping her sister’s look, this golden lace halter gown in much more visually appealing.

Star of X-Men: Apocalypse, Sophie Turner looked resplendent yesterday at the Shrine Auditorium. She glided down the red carpet in a black Carolina Herrera off-the-shoulder gown. At just 19-years-old, this high octane red carpet moment will go down in history.
Kate Winslet oozed sophisticated glamour at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The Steve Jobs nominee chose a custom made Amani Privé teal gown with cap sleeves and an open neck. I’m usually bored by Kate’s looks, hence the lack of her presence on ASR, but this is one of her best looks in years. Simple yes, but she looks supremely elegant.

Tina Fey was on hand to present Carol Burnett with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Posing next to Kristen Wiig on the red carpet, it was clear both actresses were looking their best. Tina chose a red Prabal Gurung gown with a flowing train. Tina always looks lovely on the red carpet, but this is simply stunning. Kristen, a risk taker, donned a Roland Mouret jumpsuit with an embellished bodice. She accessorised with Miu Miu heels. These two comediennes look amazing.

Claire Danes floored me at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. This gorgeous number, courtesy of Stella McCarntey, is a two-tone navy and blue gown. With a plunging neckline and a small train, this gown will go down as Claire’s best look. Another best dressed star on the red carpet.

Rachel McAdams once again wowed me, this time at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Winning Best Ensemble Cast for her role in Spotlight, she donned an Elie Saab Haute Couture gown with black floral embellishment. The Oscars will be a great night.
Amy Poehler, alongside Tina Fey, presented Carol Burnett with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Choosing her favourite designer, Stella McCartney, this black strapless gown with a sharp neckline wasn’t as exciting as Claire Danes’, but she still looked lovely.

Christina Ricci was a nominee at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards yesterday evening. The actress wore a custom made Christopher Kane gown with a lace bodice and a pleated lilac skirt. It’s a rarity to see custom made Christopher Kane dress on the red carpet so this is a real treat.

Teen actress Kiernan Shipka also took to the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium. She chose a brocade Erdem gown in a rich purple hue with detailed floral printing. Like Christopher Kane, the more you see a London designer on the red carpet the prouder you feel. It helps when the wearer looks brilliant.

Nicole Kidman’s look at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awardswasn’t as impactful as I’d expected. Unfortunately, this multi-coloured Alessandro Michele for Gucci gown with a cartoonish flair is not the nicest of designs.
