Award Season Round-Up // 3 //

Welcome to Award Season Round-Up 2016. Award season is upon us and I will be covering the events, weekly, in the run up to the Oscars at the end of February. Tune in every Sunday at 1pm to see the what the week has to offer.
Saoirse Ronan was present at the 21st Critics' Choice Awards in Santa Monica on Sunday night. The Irish actress and nominee for Brooklyn looked magnificent. Choosing a powder blue, custom made Antonio Berardi gown with embellished shoulders. Truthfully, I didn’t expect Saoirse’s award season run to be as successful as it has been thus far.

To support her film Mad Max: Fury Road, actress Zoe Kravitz attended the 21st Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday night. The Calvin Klein and Balenciaga face opted for neither of those labels, going instead to Christian Dior. Her haute couture creation featured a peach bustier and red trousers. Simple, elegant, classy. It’s always great to see Zoe.

Though Krysten Ritter didn’t win her nominated award at the 21st Critics' Choice Awards at Barker Hangar, the Jessica Jones star looked phenomenal on the blue carpet. In an age where the sparkly dress is fatigued, Krysten reignited its flame in her burgundy Zuhair Murad Haute Couture gown with a plunging neckline. She accessorised with a simple clutch. Hopefully we’ll see more of her this season.

Alicia Vikander graciously accepted Best Supporting Actress for The Danish Girl, as well as Best Horror/Sci-Fi for Ex-Machina on behalf of the film’s director, at the 21st Critics' Choice Awards. The Swedish actress opted for a modified Spring 2016 Mary Katrantzou gown, enriched with vivid printed and a bib-like bodice. I can’t wait to see what she’ll wear to the Oscars.

Zoe Kazan accompanied nominated boyfriend, Paul Dano, to the 21st Critics' Choice Awards. The actress donned a Pre-Fall 2016 Oscar de la Renta two toned pink and red gown, designed by Peter Copping. There is always a stylish plus one on the red carpet. Zoe Kazan assumed the title this award season.
Amy Schumer won two awards at the CCA’s in Santa Monica last Sunday evening. The Trainwreck actress won the MVP award, presented to her by Judd Apatow, as well as Best Actress in a Comedy. To collect the awards, Francisco Costa’s Calvin Klein Collection decked her out in a white halter neck gown. Not only is she a great comic, but she dresses fantastically too.

Portia Doubleday is having quite the moment lately. Her show, Mr Robot, is garnering critical acclaim. It picked up Best Drama Series, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor at the CCA’s. The show is fantastic, and it’s supporting lady, Portia, has caught my eye on the red carpet a number of times recently. On this occasion, it was a Novis dress with intricate floral embroidery she chose. Her sheer gown, slightly risqué, was paired wit a headband. She looks amazing.

Rachel McAdams accepted the Best Ensemble Award for Spotlight on behalf of her co-stars. As radiant as ever, Rachel delighted in a burgundy, low-neck Elie Saab sheer, studded gown. Elie Saab is a name that used to bring joy to my ears but that magic has since faded. Here, he proves that he can design a gown that isn’t dull, no matter how many sparkles are on it.

Kirsten Dunst was another winner at the 21st Critics' Choice Awards. After missing out to Lady Gaga at the Golden Globes, the Fargo actress was awarded by the Broadcast Television Journalists’ Association. For the occasion, she opted for a custom Chanel Haute Couture tiered dress, enriched with delicate embellishments. I’m pleased to say I really like this look. Love would be a stretch.

Jennifer Aniston, another plus one, also attended the 21st Critics' Choice Awards. Unlike Zoe Kazan, Jennifer failed to make an impression at the event. Her powder blue Saint Laurent gown with a layered bodice is nice but I will never get past that dreadful hairstyle.
Sarah Paulson, always one to look brilliant at red carpet events, put her best foot forward for the CCA’s. Donning a shimmering, silver Naeem Khan above-the-knee-length dress, the American Horror Story: Hotel alum styled her look with a white clutch and silver pumps. From the hair to the accessories, via the lovely dress, this is a win for Ms Paulson.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely attended the 21st Critics' Choice Awards alongside fiancé Jason Statham. The model and actress, present to support her film Mad Max: Fury Road which took home Best Action Film as well as eight other awards, wore a Saint Laurent Haute Couture gown. After mesmerising with their previous outing, this Hedi Slimane design falls flat on Rosie. Tragic misstep.

Eden Sher was the big surprise for me at the 21st Critics' Choice Awards. Firstly, I don’t think I’ve ever come across The Middle Actress on the red carpet previously. Secondly, her Rubin Singer ivory and white strapless gown easily made her one of the best dressed of the evening. This look is certainly atop of my best dressed list of award season, so far.

Kirsten Dunst attended Elle’s 6th Annual Women in Television Dinner on Wednesday evening. The Fargo actress was among many of the feted on the night. For the occasion, she chose a charcoal Marc Jacobs eyeleted gown. Rich in details this is a hit for both Marc Jacobs and Kirsten. She looks great.

Quantico actress Priyanka Chopra was also present at Elle’s 6th Annual Women in Television Dinner at Sunset Tower Hotel. She donned a Vionnet one-shouldered dress with a thigh high split. The electric blue colour of the dress is sublime. She accessorised with Christian Louboutin heels.
Nina Dobrev was another actress in attendance at Elle’s 6th Annual Women in Television Dinner on Wednesday. Wearing a stunning, lotus-printed, black and white Antonio Berardi gown. Hairstyling here is boring, but Nina earns another win for Antonio Berardi this week.

The 27th Annual Producers Guild Awards wasn’t as jam-packed with celebrities as I’d expected it to be. Sarah Paulson was in attendance to present. The American Horror Story: Hotel actress donned a strapless, white dress with orange and gold brushstrokes. Unfortunately the look falls flat.

Lady Gaga was present at the 27th Annual Producers Guild Awards to perform her song ’Til It Happens to You’ from The Hunting Ground. The Academy Award-nominated actress wore a lovely, beige gown with black straps. Another Gaga look to put the rest to shame. She looked magnificent, again.
