• Haider Ackermann • A/W 14 •

London and Paris fashion weeks are all about creativity. New York is about wearabiltiy and Milan; heritage. I am personally a fan of London and Paris. They are my happy places. I love London because of the new designers always joining the schedule and those present for a few seasons. In Paris there are amazing Japanese designers who are always presenting innovative fashions and differ to other big name houses. Haider Ackermann is another designer at Paris Fashion Week representing Colombia. His fans include Tilda Swinton  (a friend of his) and Janet Jackson.

Haider presented his Fall 2014 collection at the Théâtre National de Chaillot earlier this month. The wools and furs used were luxurious, a trait synonymous with Haider’s designs. Every season Haider gender blends and this season was no different. He can be added to the long list of designers to feature androgyny in their fall collections. This season the looks reminded me of a rocker, see leather pants and sharply tailored jackets.

This collection wasn’t as ground breaking as seasons past. I did love the tartans, leathers, furs, and the sharp tailoring. I missed that injection of fun into the austereness of Haider’s collections. That dose was evidently existent in last season’s collection. There was a haunting feeling to this collection. Perhaps that was the soundtrack or the set lighting.

I hate it when I’m disappointed by collections. This was one of those collections. Never in the five years of being a fan of Haider have I not liked a collection. This is a first and most definitely a last. I can predict he will win me over in October.
